Largemouth Bass

The Largemouth Bass is often abundant statewide in warm water ponds, lakes and impoundments especially when protected from wind and containing submerged vegetation. They primarily feed on fish, insects and crustaceans.

The Largemouth Bass has a long, slender body that is dark olive on the back fading into a white belly while their jaws extend past the eye. They have a dark mid-lateral stripe and a deep notch in the dorsal fin that separates spiny and soft-rayed portions.
