Chinook Salmon

The Chinook Salmon can be found in Lake Oahe and Oahe Tailwaters due to the cold, deep water habitats. They primarily feed on rainbow smelt and lake herring.

The torpedo shaped fish has small scales, black gums and their top is blue-green with silver sides. Dark spots are restricted mostly to the back and the top of the head, dorsal and tail (caudal) fins. Breeding adults become reddish-brown in color.
